Story
Pendennis was selected to complete construction and final fit-out of the Barracuda 105 Akalam, a 32m aluminium motor-sailor intended for a European client. With naval architecture provided by Barracuda Yacht Design and interior design by Javier Muñoz, Akalam was launched in the winter of 2010 and delivered to her Owner early 2011.
This 32-metre sloop has a unique retro appearance with a varnished wooden base around the deckhouse and aft deck seating area with a traditional bow and raised counter stern. Her impressive 60 square metre aft deck area is akin to that of a much bigger motor yacht. On closer inspection the technical achievements of Akalam become apparent. The unusual number of windows in the hull required innovative structural design while the yacht’s sailing ability is a product of performance-design heritage.
