Illusion

Story

September 2009 was Illusion’s second visit to Pendennis after her previous refit in 2005. This second refit was more extensive during which De Voogt Naval Architects designed the re-styling of all three aft decks, resulting in a three-level 5m extension. Additionally she was fully repainted and around 40% of her existing teak was removed. The new deck extensions were manufactured in Holland.

The Owner’s study, bridge and crew accommodation were redesigned, which involved removing all existing joinery, lighting and AV systems. Bannenberg and Rowell transformed the social spaces with a light art-deco influenced contemporary style, optimized for the Owner’s work and relation. Other major items on the work list included the installation of a new hydraulic passerelle and deck equipment, full engine room service and general upgrades of electronic and AV equipment. Pendennis were also tasked with installing a Jacuzzi on the sundeck.

Through careful assessment and pre-planning of these extensive works, the work on Illusion was completed in just 8 months.
