Electrical Project Engineer

Are you looking for a challenge? Pendennis Shipyard Limited is looking for an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to join our team.

Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the production-side of electrical installations on large sailing and motor yachts (30m to 70m) Working from a range of contract specifications, and supported by the technical design department, they will specify, design, procure and manage the installation of all electrical aspects of the project.

Duties:
Design electrical systems to classification and owner’s requirements
Plan and run electrical installations on refits and new builds from 200 to 10,000+ electrical hours
Source and purchase equipment
Maintain budgets & accountability (both financial and man-hours)
Lead electrical teams of 2 to 20 people
Report to the Project Manager as well as directly to clients and directors

The Candidate:
Ideally with an electrical engineering qualification to HNC/HND/Degree level or equivalent (although excellent candidates with a proven track record in a similar role will be considered).
Good computer skills
Experience of designing and managing industrial / marine installations to rigorous regulations and standards

Any knowledge / experience of the following is desirable, but not essential:
PLC programming
Comfortable working with AutoCAD (or similar) for the production of schematics and layouts.
Electrical system commissioning
Understanding of marine class society requirements
Proven man management skills

The successful candidate will be an active part of the project team reporting to the Project Manager on behalf of the Electrical Manager. Remuneration range on request.

Marine/Industrial Electricians

At Pendennis we know that our people and their skills make us a success in the superyacht new build and refit sector. A strong team is vital and, due to an expanding workload, we are currently recruiting for Marine Electricians.

The successful candidates will have relevant marine electronics or industrial electrical installation experience and have completed a recognised electronic /electrical apprenticeship.

Scaffolding/Infrastructure Trainees

We are recruiting for two Scaffolding/Infrastructure trainees to join an expanding team who provide support work on both refits and construction of new vessels.

Applicants will need to have a minimum of four GCSEs including Maths and English (Grade C /4 or above), be enthusiastic and keen to start a career.

There will be a 12-week probationary period paid at an apprenticeship rate. At the end of this time the NMW will apply with increments over three years so that at the end of the training period pay will be at the level of a fully qualified tradespersons rate.

Successful applicants will follow a training scheme with Nationally recognised qualifications learning the following:
• Scaffolding.
• Heat shrink tenting.
• Craning, slinging and forklift operations.

Gain experience and in-house training in:
• Boat movements and vessel docking.
• Temporary set-up of power, compressed air and extraction for paint team.

Candidates must be flexible and willing to work as part of a close-knit team as well as having good attention to detail, cleanliness and a knowledge of health & safety.
