Story
Masquerade of Sole arrived at Pendennis in the spring of 2011 and was re-launched in June 2012 as the motor yacht A2. The Owner appointed New York based Peter Marino Architect to design the contemporary and luxurious Owner and guest areas. Naval Architects BMT Nigel Gee worked alongside the technical team at Pendennis, who has extensive experience of stern extensions on other remodelled vessels such as MY Illusion. A2‘s hull was extended to 47m across all three decks, and the superstructure modified to incorporate an impressive full beam master cabin.
This exterior transformation was complemented by a full paint job with A2 leaving the yard almost completely unrecognisable. As well as the five metre hull extension and major superstructure modifications, this remodel included re-engineering of all systems, complete replacement of all deck equipment, a complete remodel of the engine room including replacement of all systems, installation of modern bridge technology and state of the art AV equipment.
The majority of the interior layout was re-configured, manufactured and installed by the Pendennis team who worked closely with interior build experts. A2 left the yard in July 2012, during the second day’s racing of the Pendennis Cup, with not only her appearance enhanced but her performance significantly upgraded. She now comfortably attains 14 knots cruising with a significantly increased cruising range.
A2 has since been supported by our Pendennis Palma facility for minor maintenance work, visited our Technical Service Centre in Vilanova, near Barcelona, and returned to Falmouth in 2021 for her 10 year survey. She re-launched in January 2022 following a major engine room systems service, guest and crew interior upgrades and an exterior refurbishment including full deck re-caulk and a re-paint of the hull.
