Story
Lady K is an exceptional composite sailing yacht with a lifting keel. She was designed by Tripp Yacht Design and built in New Zealand in 2002 for unlimited-range blue-water cruising, in particular transpacific sailing. Lady K has cruised Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia, sailed across the Indian and Atlantic oceans to Rio, explored the Caribbean and Baltic seas as well as Alaska.
The vessel boasts carbon rigs and exceptionally large roaches, with highly swept spreaders that support the rigs. As well as the Owner’s cabin aft, there is accommodation in three guest cabins plus crew quarters forward. The deckhouse contains a raised saloon and helm station above the central engine space.
Lady K arrived at Pendennis in November 2014, with her six-month refit in Falmouth being the longest the yacht had spent out of the water since her launch. The refit involved fitting a new genset and bow thruster, stripping down the hydraulics, renewing the seals for the lift-keel ram and painting her topsides.
Lady K’s global exploration continued as soon as she left the yard, meeting her Owner for a Scottish cruise in late June, following which the yacht sailed north of Norway to the Lofoten Islands within the Arctic Circle.
