Story
Launched by Feadship in 1982 as Matanthar, this 38m motor yacht has visited Pendennis Shipyard three-times with different Owners. Her initial visit was in 1994. Then, having changed hands and following a full season’s use by her new Owner, the newly named Monaco returned to Pendennis in September 2005. Her latest refit was completed in 2016.
During Monaco’s second refit visit the work list was more extensive than the first. A number of mechanical systems had reached the end of their lives and needed changing so works included the installation of new switchboards and distribution system, a new bow-thruster, a new shore-power converter and the refreshment of the air conditioning system. In addition the yacht received a face-lift with the installation of new teak decks, a completed repaint, an overhaul of the Owner’s suite and a new galley.
In June 2016, the yacht was redelivered to her Owner following a 7-month refit in Falmouth. The remit for Monaco’s visit was an extensive upgrade of the engineering systems, including two new generators, alongside a full structural survey. In addition, the yacht received a new A/C chiller unit, air handler, complemented by a full clean of all ducting, and general servicing of all systems.
