Story
Built in the Netherlands by Kees Cornelissen in 1992, Va Bene is very familiar to the Pendennis team, having experienced a comprehensive nine month transformation in the winter of 2007/2008 at the Falmouth yard, plus subsequent works in Palma and Vilanova. Va Bene underwent an amazing transformation during her original refit in 2007/8. The work programme carried out on board was a comprehensive upgrade and in some cases re-working of both the interior and exterior spaces.
On the exterior the yacht has had a complete repaint, a reconfigured sun deck area heavily influenced by the Owner’s requirements and the decking on two of the three decks were completely replaced. The Owner’s stateroom was completely stripped out and re-configured by Struik & Hammerslag under the direction of the yard to a H2 interior design. The new Owner’s suite included a large bathroom, a walk in closet and large office that converts into a bedroom for up to three children. Each of the other five staterooms on board was given a face lift whilst below the Owner’s cabin brand new crew accommodation was completed with a larger crew mess. Installation of a brand-new state of the art audio visual system by Arcam and the luxury bespoke carpets running the whole length of the yacht completed the modernisation throughout.
Engineering was equally a key focus – below the water line the shafts were drawn, the propellers were renewed, stabilisers and bow thrusters checked and serviced. A permanent soft patch was installed in the engine room through the lounge and the generators were removed for remodelling. Following this, all of the other equipment within the engine room was removed for servicing – including air conditioning plant, the watermaker, pumps and compressors.
Va Bene also completed a refit at the Pendennis Palma facility in 2013, mainly focussed on engineering and paint works. Since 2018, the yacht has been a regular visitor to Pendennis’ Barcelona site, Pendennis Vilanova - most recently choosing the facility to undertake her 30 year survey.
