Five of Pendennis’ apprentices gave a unique insight into a day’s work at Pendennis Shipyard during National Apprenticeship Week 2014. Each apprentice was followed by a photographer to give an idea of day-to-day work as an apprentice in the engineering, electrical, fabrication, joinery and paint departments. The apprentices explained the tasks at hand and their life as students and tradesmen in a Facebook diary found on the Pendennis Facebook page (www.facebook.com/PendennisShipyardLtd). It was a unique opportunity to discover how knowledge and skill is handed over by experienced tradesmen to the younger generations.
National Apprenticeship Week (#NAW2014) took place from the 3rd until the 7th of March and is aimed at providing youngsters with the opportunity of learning more about what it’s like to be an apprentice. For the occasion, our apprentices were also be featured on BBC Spotlight.
Hundreds of further events and activities took place across England in support of the Week, which is designed to celebrate how Apprenticeships deliver for employers, young people, adults and the economy.
