Pendennis Shipyard is looking for 8 new apprentices to start the next Surface Finishing Apprenticeship Programme in January 2015.
In June 2005 this innovative apprenticeship scheme was developed to focus on training local young people in the skills of surface finishing on a variety of styles and sizes of yachts. This specialist three-four year course consists of on-the-job training combined with classroom sessions to train the apprentices to achieve the perfect surface finish on our custom build and refit superyacht projects.Aspects of the course will include all aspects of the intricate process of surface finishing for the superyacht industry including basic metallurgy, surface preparation, paint technology& procedures and testing, spray equipment setup, maintenance and problem solving.
We are now recruiting for the next entry year for the Surface Finishing Apprenticeship Scheme, which will start in January 2015. To be eligible you will need:
– To be 16-19 on January 1 2015
– To have a minimum of 4 GCSEs of Grade C or above including Maths & English
– A desire to succeed in an exciting & stimulating environment
